Open Water Swim Course - Water Safety High Priority

Details

Volunteers for this position will be stationed in watercraft along the swim path and will give directions and support to swimmers, and assistance to lifeguards as needed. An athlete may stop and hold onto your kayak/paddle board to rest as well. Position requires a hat and waterproof watch (not a phone). If possible, please bring your own kayak/paddle or paddle board & life vest. We have some available if you don't have one. Volunteer orientation and all other supplies will be provided on site by Backyard Lifeguards - BYLG prior to event start.

Transition monitor & athlete race number marking Medium Priority

Details

Assist in transition area at entrance & exits. Check athletes as they enter and exit transition to ensure they have their race bracelet on, they know where to rack their bikes and they have their number marked on their upper arms and their race age on their left calf. As athletes leave transition after the race make sure that they stay clear of those that are still actively racing and if they are trying to take their bike out of transition ensure that the number on their bike matches the number on their wristband. Only athletes allowed in transition, they must be wearing a wristband, if they lost their wristband send them to the MSE tent for a replacement.

Bike Mount/Dismount Line High Priority

Details

You will be positioned right outside the transition area. Must be able to communicate clear and loud instructions to athletes as they leave and return from transition. Announce clearly to all athletes where they are able to mount and dismount their bikes. Check to make sure all athletes have a helmet on, if they do not tell them to go back and get it on.

Bike Aid Station High Priority

You must be 12 or older to volunteer for this task.

Details

The volunteer's main responsibility is to ensure water and/or Gatorade is supplied for athletes at the aid station. Volunteers will need to hand off aid to cyclists as they ride by the aid station. Also, please ensure trash is picked up off ground during the race. A short training will be provided before your volunteer shift. This position is ideal for adults, responsible kids may assist at the stations as well.

Location

On the bike course positioned either on the North or South side of the intersection of State Highway B and Seeburger Road. Can drive to spot, services half distance race.

Details

This position is great for kids paired with an adult. The volunteer's main responsibility is to ensure water and/or Gatorade is supplied for athletes at the aid station. Volunteers will need to fill cups and hand them out to the athletes. Also, please ensure cups are picked up off ground during the race. There will be a trashcan provided.

Location

Half distance race turnaround at the NW corner of the parking lot next to the Corporate Pavilion, porta potties are located next to this aid station, this aid station services all the races.

Run Course Aid Station #2 High Priority

At least 1 more volunteer needed.

Details

This position is great for kids paired with an adult. The volunteer's main responsibility is to ensure water and/or Gatorade is supplied for athletes at the aid station. Volunteers will need to fill cups and hand them out to the athletes. Also, please ensure cups are picked up off ground during the race. There will be a trashcan provided.

Location

Right before the Super Sprint turn (1 mile mark), this aid station services all the races.

Run Station Aid Station #3 Medium Priority

At least 1 more volunteer needed.

This position is great for kids paired with an adult. The volunteer's main responsibility is to ensure water and/or Gatorade is supplied for athletes at the aid station. Volunteers will need to fill cups and hand them out to the athletes. Also, please ensure cups are picked up off ground during the race. There will be a trashcan provided.

Location

Near the 2 mile mark where the inside loop path meets the course at the pump station. This aid station services the Olympic and Half Distance Races.

Run Aid Station #4 High Priority

Details

This position is great for kids paired with an adult. The volunteer's main responsibility is to ensure water and/or Gatorade is supplied for athletes at the aid station. Volunteers will need to fill cups and hand them out to the athletes. Also, please ensure cups are picked up off ground during the race. There will be a trashcan provided.

Location

At the Olympic turn (3.1 mile mark) at the path T intersection at the NW corner of the course. This aid station services the Olympic and Half Distance Races.

Run Course Marshal Low Priority

On the run course to direct participants, warn of any hazards along course, monitor traffic and provide any assistance should any minor incidents occur.

Location

Run course trail crosses the park road by the archery grounds. This position services all the races.

Finish Line - Medals & Timing Chip Collection High Priority

After an athlete crosses the finish line you will assist with giving each participant a medal along with removing their timing chip.
