Help us get everything ready for a great race morning!

Setup Crew volunteers assist with the early-morning preparations that bring the event to life. You’ll help with tents, tables, course signs, cones, banners, packet pickup setup, and general pre-race organization.

Typical duties include:

Setting up tents, tables, and signage
Placing cones and course markers
Organizing the packet pickup and volunteer check-in areas
Helping with start/finish line setup
Assisting the Race Director and Operations Team as needed

Light-to-moderate lifting may be involved, but we’ll match tasks to comfort level.
No experience needed — just an early start and willingness to help.

Parking & Flow Volunteers

Details

Be the friendly first point of contact for race-day arrivals.

Parking & Flow volunteers help guide drivers and runners as they arrive at the event. You’ll help keep traffic safe and smooth while providing a warm and welcoming start to the morning.

Typical duties include:

Directing vehicles to appropriate parking areas
Guiding pedestrian traffic toward packet pickup
Answering basic questions
Helping maintain a safe and organized flow around the venue

No experience needed — just good awareness and a positive attitude.

Runner Services Crew

Runner Services Crew

Details

Help welcome runners, keep lines moving, and create a smooth and friendly race-morning experience.

Runner Services Crew volunteers support the front-of-house operations on race day. You’ll help runners pick up their bibs, receive their shirts, and get ready for the start. Some volunteers will also assist at the finish line with medals, food and drinks, and general runner flow.

Typical duties include:

Greeting runners and answering basic questions
Bib / packet pickup and shirt distribution
Keeping lines organized and moving efficiently
Assisting with last-minute runner needs
Helping with finish line flow after the race starts
Handing out medals, food, and drinks
Supporting the overall runner experience with a positive and welcoming attitude

No experience needed — just a friendly smile and willingness to help.

This position is coordinated by Patty, our Volunteer Coordinator.

Course Operations Crew

Course Marshal Crew High Priority

Details

Help runners stay safe, encouraged, and on the right path.

Course Marshals are positioned along the route to guide runners, provide encouragement, and assist with course awareness. This role is essential for runner safety and a great experience.

Typical duties include:

Directing runners at turns and intersections
Alerting runners to any course conditions
Cheering and motivating participants
Reporting any issues to the Course Captain or Race Director

This is a great role for anyone who enjoys being outside and supporting runners.

Location

Position yourself at the South Beach Marina parking lot exit, where runners will transition onto SE Marine Science Drive (use this map link https://maps.app.goo.gl/vg3zBVohAbA97z3C7 for exact location). Look for the Volunteer Check-in tent to receive a vest and any additional instructions

Water Station Crew

Details

Keep runners hydrated and energized on the course.

Water Station volunteers set up, staff, and clean up the aid station located on the course. You’ll hand out water, cheer runners on, and help keep the area clean and organized.

Typical duties include:

Setting up tables, cups, and water containers
Handing water to runners as they pass
Cheering and providing encouragement
Keeping the station clean and free of tripping hazards
Cleaning up and packing the station at the end

This is a fun, high-energy spot on the course!

At designated water station points along the race course.

Early Packet Pickup

Early Bib Pickup (Wednesday) High Priority

Details

Help runners pick up their bibs and shirts before race day.

Early Packet Pickup volunteers make the pre-race process smooth and simple for runners by assisting with bib distribution, shirts, and basic event questions.

Typical duties include:

Greeting runners as they arrive
Checking names and handing out bibs
Distributing shirts by size
Answering simple race-day questions
Keeping the packet pickup area organized

A great option for volunteers who want to help but can’t make race morning.

Location

Meet at Arctic Circle Restaurant, 340 N Coast Hwy, Newport, OR 97365, on Wednesday evening for early bib pickup duties. Please arrive a few minutes early to receive instructions.
