As an Aid Station Captain, you’ll be the leader of a dedicated volunteer team, ensuring each runner’s needs are met and creating a memorable, positive experience at your station. You’ll be the main point of contact with race management, responsible for clear communication and upholding race policies.
Your Key Roles:
✅ Menu Planning & Shopping: You choose your station’s menu, shop for supplies (you’ll be reimbursed), and manage food safety.
✅ Team Recruitment & Management: Bring together a positive, hardworking crew to support runners throughout the day and night.
✅ Runner & Crew Support: Oversee hydration, nutrition, medical needs, and morale; manage interactions with pacers and support crews.
✅ Race Rule Enforcement: Professionally enforce race rules, including crew regulations, drop bag areas, and aid station procedures.
✅ Parking & Traffic: Direct parking and help keep traffic flowing smoothly around your aid station.
✅ Decision-Making: Be ready to make quick, informed decisions in the best interest of runners and the race—think of yourself as both a hospitality manager and a pit boss.
You’ll stand your ground politely and professionally, ensuring that each runner’s experience is safe, positive, and in line with race standards.
