Course Marshal / Intersection Crew

Must be 15 years or older to volunteer for this role.

Be on the front lines of race day excitement! Course Marshals help keep participants safe from traffic while bringing high energy and encouragement to the course. Many locations require light traffic control—allowing vehicles to cross only when it’s safe for runners and walkers. You’ll also help point participants in the correct direction at key turns (there are plenty!), making sure no one misses a segment of the race or gets lost.

Cheer loudly, wave signs, play music if appropriate, and help keep the party going—all while keeping safety first.

Specific locations may be requested and are assigned based on availability.
Estimated shift times vary by location:

Start window: 7:15–8:35 AM

End window: 9:00–11:15 AM

The times listed reflect when runners are expected; volunteers should plan to arrive earlier to receive instructions and be in position before participants arrive.

Finish Line Crew
Be part of the action at the most exciting spot on the course! Finish Line volunteers assist our timing team with set-up and take-down, cheer runners across the line, and help hand out finisher medals and water as participants complete their race. High-fives, big smiles, and loud cheers encouraged!

We’ll need volunteers from the very start through the final finisher, so flexibility and endurance are helpful.

Photographers Medium Priority

At least 2 more volunteers needed.

Details

Photographer – Finish Line

Help capture the big moments! Finish Line photographers document the energy of race day—snapping photos before the race, at the start, and as participants cross the finish line. No special equipment is required; photos will be shared on the GLA 13dot1 Facebook page for racers, volunteers, and the community to enjoy.

Photographer – Course

Calling all adventurous, self-motivated photographers—amateur or professional! Head out onto the course by bike, scooter, or on foot to capture candid moments of runners, walkers, volunteers, and the incredible scenery along the route. These in-the-moment shots are some of our favorites and truly bring the race story to life.

We’re especially hoping to expand our on-course coverage, so creativity, independence, and a good eye for storytelling are key.

Estimated time commitment: 7:15 AM – 11:30 AM

Packet Pick Up High Priority

At least 2 more volunteers needed.

Details

Race Prep & Logistics Crew

Love checking things off a list and helping behind the scenes? This role is for you! Volunteers assist with a wide range of race-day tasks including sorting and organizing shirts, bundling safety pins, packing swag bags (yes—lots of swag!), cutting fruit, and tackling other miscellaneous but essential details that keep race day running smoothly.

We may also need help heading out into the community to place race-day signage, as well as assisting with packet pick-up and race-day registrations.

This is a great role for detail-oriented, flexible helpers who like variety and teamwork.

Shifts:

Friday: 3:00 – 6:00 PM

Saturday: 6:00 – 7:30 AM

Lead & SAG Bikers High Priority

You must be 18-99 years old to volunteer for this task.

At least 5 more volunteers needed.

Details

Lead & SAG (Support) Bike Crew

Must be 18 years or older to volunteer for this role.

Ride with purpose! Lead and SAG bikers play a critical role in guiding and supporting participants across all three race distances.

Lead Bikers set a steady, confident pace at the front of each race, helping the lead runner stay on course and on track. Familiarity with the route is important, as lead bikers provide essential direction and help ensure a smooth, well-run race from start to finish.

SAG (Support & Gear) Bikers are the unsung heroes of the course. Equipped with supplies and a calm, supportive presence, SAG bikers patrol the route ready to assist runners who may need encouragement, basic support, or help reaching the finish line. Their goal is to make sure every participant feels supported and safe throughout the race.

E-bikes will be provided by GEAR, making this role accessible and fun while covering longer distances with ease.
