The magic of White Lake has always been the lake. White Lake is one of the finest lakes you will ever have the pleasure to swim in – a perfect oval, two miles long and one mile across. The lake which is fed by subterranean springs is crystal clear with a sand bottom – about nine feet deep out in the very middle. Most mornings, White Lake is so perfectly flat; you’d swear you were looking at a sheet of ice.
This swim is a time-trial start. start with participants lining up with the end of the FFA’s left-side pier. Athletes will start one at a time - every few seconds - by crossing over timing mats and will either dive or jump into the lake. Athletes swim clockwise around this triangular-shaped course with the finish at the right-side pier.
This will be a two-loop swim – with each loop being approx. 950 meters. The turn buoy to begin the second lap of the swim will be positioned near the end of swim finish pier. At the end of the second lap, participants will exit the water at two ladders located at the end of the piers. Participants exit the water at the end of the easternmost pier/dock and run about 300 yards to the transition area.
Water Temps: Water temps will be posted on the website by 9:00p on Thursday before the event. USAT wetsuit rules will apply. If the water temperature is 79 – 83 degrees, participants may choose to wear a wetsuit, however, they will not be eligible for awards and they will not receive any AAA NCTS points or USAT ranking points and will show up in the results as DQ’d. SWIM CAPS are provided and must be worn.
OPEN WATER SWIM TIPS: If you need assistance during the swim, roll over on your back and put your hand in the air. If you need to hang on to a watercraft during the swim, please make sure you are not hanging on to one of the motorized safety boats. You may hang on to a non-motorized vessel (kayaks, canoes, or surfboards) without penalty, however if you hang on to the side of one of the motorized watercraft you will be taken out of the water and disqualified.

Revised race distance - 54.8 miles
If there was ever a bike course designed to generate a PR its White Lake.
Virtually no elevation change - excellent to very good pavement - little traffic - and only a few turns.
Competitors take a right out of the FFA center onto Hwy 53 and ride a little over a mile where they turn right onto Hwy 701. North on Hwy 701 for about 2 miles and right onto Hwy 41. Participants head east on Hwy 41 for 8 miles where they'll turn right onto Hwy 210. It's almost 20 miles down 210 until participants turn right onto Hwy 53, for the trip back to White Lake. In order to add 3 miles to the race distance and at least get the distance up to almost 55 miles, we have added a short out & back stretch on Over Lyon Rd. This out & back section will be a little under 5 miles after the 210/53 intersection. Once participants complete this out & back section, they'll take a right back onto Hwy 53 for the final 15 miles back to the finish.
There are plenty of volunteers and police officers for the race, turns will be clearly marked and mile markers are indicated on the course. Remember: It is ultimately your responsibility to know the course. Roads will be open to vehicular traffic. Be careful and alert at all times.
BIKE TRANSITION: Mount your bike at the designated mount/dismount line just outside transition area. You will also have to dismount at this location.
HELMETS REQUIRED: Hard shell helmets must be worn and fastened before leaving thetransition area.
EQUIPMENT: No headphones, earphones or any radio-type devices will be allowed.
ON-COURSE AID STATION: A water bottle handoff station will be located at mile 22 and mile 38. Each station will hand out 20oz Deer Park Sport cap bottles. Please make sure you drop empty water bottles ONLY at the water bottle handoff locations. Also, do not throw any trash on the bike course this will result in a DQ. Any bottles dropped at the water handoff locations will not be returned to you.
CAUTION: At the intersection of White Lake Drive and Hwy 53 (1 mile from the finish), International athletes will be merging with Half athletes. Please be aware as you approach this intersection and use extreme caution as international athletes make the turn onto HWY 53.
BIKE SUPPORT: Bike Cycles will provide bike tech support and will be set up at the Bike Start/Finish entrance to the transition area.
USA TRIATHLON RULES: USAT Officials will be on the course enforcing USAT rules (drafting, blocking, etc.).
NEW for fall of 2019 - On course bike tech support. We will have three bike tech support teams covering the bike course.
Each team will concentrate on a separate section of the course.
This is an out & back course. The run course basically circles White Lake. Runners go right on Hwy 53 and then right on Hwy 701. Runners then turn right into the Turtle Cove subdivision where they do a short out & back in order to get the mileage needed for the Half. Coming out of Turtle Cove, runners turn right onto Hwy 701, head up around the north end of the lake and bear right onto White Lake Dr. The run turn-around is located at the end of White Lake Dr. - just short of the White Lake Dr./Hwy 53 intersection. The return route to the FFA Center is the same - minus the Turtle Cove section. Consequently, runners only go into Turtle Cove on the outbound leg of the run.
IMPORTANT: The run course along both Hwy 53 and Hwy 701 will be coned - with cones separating vehicular traffic from runners. Runners MUST stay inside the traffic cones. Any runner caught running outside the traffic cones will be DQ'd on the spot. This is a very important safety consideration, so violations to this rule will be dealt with severely - NO WARNING.
Run Course Aid Stations:
Aid stations will be located along the the course at approximately every mile to mile and a half and will offer:
• Flat cola
• Salty Snack
• Cold towels
• First Aid Kit
We ask that all participants deposit all their trash at the trash containers located at/near the aid stations.
Please do our volunteers a favor and make sure you don't throw trash along the run course. Our ability to hold this race is contingent upon how clean we leave the area following the race. Littering on the run course WILL result in a penalty from the USAT officials.
RACE NUMBERS: You must have your run number visible on the front of your body as you cross the finish line. Failure to do so will result in a two minute penalty.
FINISH LINE: When you approach the finish line you will cross over several timing mats - located approx. 50 yards before the finish line. These mats are used to pick up your race number so that the race announcer will be able to announce your name. Don’t stop at this point - keep running to the finish line – the finish line will be obvious.
HEADPHONES: Headphones, headsets, ipods, mp3 players, or personal audio devices, etc. are not to be carried or worn at any time during the race.
