Lake Lou Yaeger in Litchfield, Illinois is a beautiful 1269 acre lake with just under 25 miles of shoreline. We have been blessed to create and host the Litchfield Triathlou Triathlon here for over 12 years (11 years of races-2020 COVID Pandemic). The city, neighbors, and lake team are amazing partners welcoming us annually. Below you will find detailed information for each events swim course.
Water Temp/Wetsuits: Triathlou has been wetsuit legal every year so far (some close calls). The lake is typically in the lower 70's race morning. We anticipate the trend to continue, and always keep participants updated as the event nears.
Sprint Swim Course: .31 Mile (500 meters)
Enter at the start via a time trial start, and then swim one clockwise lap around the buoys, and exit at the swim exit.
Olympic Swim Course: .93 Mile (1500 Meters)
Enter at the start via a time trial start (after the sprint athletes start) and then swim 3 clockwise laps around the buoys. You will tag the beach (checkmat to assure each lap is swam) and then enter back in the water to swim the next lap. After your 3rd lap you will exit the water completely and run out the swim exit.
