I am excited to be competing in the She Tris Sprint Triathlon, and as part of my journey, I’m raising funds for Evolutionary Aquatics - a Charlotte based program that teaches adults (especially within the African-American community) how to swim.
Growing up in Atlantic City, New Jersey, I was always comfortable around water, but I never truly learned how to swim. Now, as an adult learning to swim for the first time, I see the challenges but also the empowerment that comes with breaking through them. There’s a common stereotype that Black people don’t swim, but I want to push past that narrative and help others do the same.
While I’m not personally affiliated with Evolutionary Aquatics, their mission deeply resonates with me. I lived in Charlotte for years and still call it home. Supporting a local organization making a real impact felt like the perfect way to give back. If my journey inspires you, please consider donating. Every contribution helps more adults gain confidence in the water and break barriers! 💙
