2026 Bay Swim Spectator Guide

To help with your day and in cheering on your swimmers at the 2026 Great Chesapeake Bay Swim, we are including some FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions) for spectators. While not all inclusive, these are the most common questions that we have.  Please note that the ONLY location for spectators is at the Bay Bridge Marina/Libbeys

Q)     Can I go to, take a shuttle to, or in any way get in to Sandy Point State Park to see my 4.4 Mile Swimmer start their journey?

A)      You may not this year, no. Sandy Point State Park is not open for the public with such and early start this year. Should you try to enter the park, EVEN IF BRINGING A SWIMMER TO THE START,  you will be turned away by park staff. THE ONLY WAY FOR A SWIMMER TO GET TO THE START IS THE SHUTTLE FROM KENT ISLAND HIGH SCHOOL

Q) Can I park at the Kent Island Marina/Libbey’s, to see my swimmer?

A) You may not. The parking at the Kent Island Marina/Libbey’s, is for the restaurant and

marina guests. You should park at Kent Island High School and take the shuttles over to the Marina/Libbeys

      Q) Can I bring my dog/cat/pet goldfish on the shuttle?

A) Unfortunately not. If it is NECESSARY for you to bring your pet with you, we

recommend that you park at the Park and Ride on Route 8 and walk across the road

down to the Finish Line area. There are no shuttles that will take you there, but it will

be the only way for an animal to accompany you.

Please keep in mind that your animal will be in close proximity to around 1000 people,

so if they are not good with crowds, it is best not to bring them.

Q) What time do the shuttles run for us?

A) The shuttles will begin to go to Libbey’s at 6am. They will run, continuously, from Kent

Island High School to Libbey’s until 1230pm. This shuttle will be the 1 Mile Swimmer

and Spectator Shuttle. It will ONLY go to Libbeys and will not go to the Sandy Point

      venue.

Q) Will there be food and drink for the spectators?

A) Unfortunately, as we are on the site of a restaurant, we cannot have vendors selling

food or drink. We would encourage you to go to Libbey’s once they open for the day,

but until then, you should pack your own food and drink for the time that you will be

      on grounds.

Q) Will there be bathrooms?

A) Yes, there will be multiple portable toilets on site for you to use. We are not allowed,

unless you are dining with them, to go in to Libbey’s to use their restroom.

Q) I have a special circumstance. Can you assist?

A) Possible, but not guaranteed. Please reach out to us at info@bayswim.com with any

special requests that you might have. While we try to make your day as enjoyable as

the swimmers, there are some instances where we may not be able to fulfill your

requests, but feel free to ask. The worst we can say is no.
