Duathlon Info
What is a Duathlon you ask? Well, let’s break it down!
If swimming is not your thing, then a duathlon is a great event. It has just two sports -- running (walking) and biking.
Here’s how it works:
Starting in the transition area, you will begin your event with your first run/walk. You'll head out on Robson Blvd, take a right, and make your way to Globe. It's a 2.0 mile course with a water station at the halfway point.
After returning to transition, you'll put your helmet on (and bike shoes, if you have them), and hop on your bike to ride the 7.4 mile course around the development...the same course as the triathlon.
Once you've completed the bike, you'll return to transition for your final time and head out on your final run/walk and complete the 2.0 mile loop you did the first time. This time though, rather than return to transition, you'll run across the finish line where all the fans will be cheering you on!
A duathlon is an endurance event consisting of running and cycling in a run-bike-run format. Competitors complete a first running leg, transition to a cycling leg, and then finish with a second running leg, with the total time including transitions between activities. This format makes it an alternative for those who may not be comfortable with or have access to a swimming portion, as found in a triathlon.
