The health and well-being of our athletes and volunteers are of the utmost importance to the St. Anthony’s Triathlon. With the number of COVID-19 cases increasing, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has recommended canceling or postponing large events for eight weeks. As such, the 37th St. Anthony’s Triathlon, scheduled for April 24-26, is postponed.
We are working with the city of St. Petersburg and USA Triathlon (USAT) to find a date later this year.
If we are unable to host the event this year, we will provide information about refunds or registration deferment to a future race. We also will work with our vendors who were scheduled to be at our three-day Sports & Fitness Expo.
We appreciate the support and dedication of our athletes and volunteers who have made the St. Anthony’s Triathlon one of the largest races in the United States. We also thank you for your patience as we work to make decisions during this fluid situation. We certainly look forward to seeing you again in downtown St. Petersburg at the St. Anthony’s Triathlon.
As part of BayCare, a leading health system in the Tampa Bay region, the team at St. Anthony's Hospital is determined to do our part to keep our participants and the local community informed about preparation, protection and potential impact. BayCare has been working internally to prepare its teams should the virus show up in one of its facilities and it’s been communicating regularly with local practitioners and government officials at the local, state and federal level, to ensure patients, team members and the community are protected.
