Portland’s first multisport race for children, The Portland Kids Duathlon, is presented by Benchmark Real Estate. The race gives young people ages 5-12 an opportunity to participate in the fast growing world of multi-sport racing. The run, bike, run format of a duathlon is fun and approachable, a great race for non-swimmers and triathletes alike. All young duathletes will finish the race with a smile on their face, a medal around their neck, and a boost of self-confidence and pride. All profits from this race will be donated to the Foundation for Portland Public Schools.
This exciting community event includes two waves, a short bike/run for 5-8 year olds and longer run/bike/run for 8-12 year olds. *Parents of 8 year olds, please register your child in the wave you think they will be most comfortable. The younger kids will bike 1 mile and run 1/3 mile. The older kids will run 1 mile, bike 3.5 miles and then run 1 mile again. See www.portlandkidsduathlon.com for full race course details. All participants get a shirt, medal, and swag bag and a chance to win a number of raffle prizes, including a brand new bike donated by CycleMania.
New this year, we've added a donation suggested bike event for 3-5 year olds. Someone 16 or older is required to run alongside the child. We ask that parents consider a donation to our beneficiary, the Foundation for Portland Public Schools. Donate here. Participants will have a bib and get a medal at the end. We are limiting the number of kids that can participate for safety reasons.
