Cereal City Athletics strives to promote healthy active events for families in our community. The beneficiary of the Cereal City Triathlon will be the Cereal City Youth Triathlon Club and The Cereal City Kids Triathlon. Exposing our youth to fun, challenging activities at an early age can help shape their views of what a healthy lifestyle looks like! A portion of the proceeds from this event will fund registration scholarships to the Cereal City Kids Triathlon. The more inclusive the Cereal City Kids Triathlon is, the more kids we can reach! Thanks for your participation!
The duathlon will utilize much of the same course as the triathlon with a 2 mile run, 20K bike, and 5k run to the finish.
The swim portion will start in the water on the western most sea wall of Willard Beach on Goguac Lake. Swimmers will always turn around buoys to their right. The swim portion ends on the beach and runs up to the transition area on a closed off driveway.
The bike portion of the event will take athletes from Willard Beach down George B Place to Capital Ave. Right turn on Capital Ave to West Minges Road. Right turn on West Minges Road. Athletes will turn left on to South Minges Road at the "T" intersection. Right turn (West) on Watkins Road, crossing over Helmer and traveling West to the turnaround on Renton Road, then returning the reverse way they went out. We will not be asking for road closures during the bike portion. We will be asking to utilize the bike lanes on Capital Ave and the shoulders of the roads that don’t have bike lanes. Officers and volunteers will be present to direct traffic.
The run course begins at Willard Beach Park in the transition area and proceeds down George B Place then turns left (North) on Capital Ave. Turn right (East) on Golden Ave (aka: G Dr N). Continue on Golden Ave (G Dr N) until you connect to the walking trail at Riverside Park. The trail loops around Riverside park to a designated turn around where there will be a water station. The return course backtracks on the same roads taken out.
The 2 mile run course begins at Willard Beach Park at the "Start/Finish" arch. Duathletes will proceed along the beach sidewalk until they run into George B Place and veer left. Once down George B Place, the course then turns left (North) on Capital Ave. Turn right (East) on Golden Ave (aka: G Dr N). Continue on Golden Ave (G Dr N) until the designated 2 Mile turnaround. There will be a water station at this turnaround. The return course backtracks on the same roads taken out.
The Super Sprint takes off from the Northern Sea Wall on Gogac Lake and proceeds 400 meters around the positioned buoys, and in to the finish!
Just under 6 Miles, the Super Sprint bike course turns right on Capital Ave out of the park, right on Minges Rd, Left on South Minges Road, and left on Watkins Lane to do a quick loop in the neighborhood and head back the way they rode out.
The Super Sprint Run turns left out of the park on to Capital Ave, run on the sidewalk on Capital Ave until they turn right onto Golden. A right turn into Riverside Park takes them to their water/aid station and to their turn around cone. They run back the way they came out and turn right in the park to run the beachside paved trail into Willard Beach Park for the finish line!
