Why isn't this year's race on Oscar Sunday?

Thanks for asking.  Every Screenland 5K was held on Oscar Sunday in the Heart of Screenland. For the first time, the Academy Awards and the LA Marathon announced their events would be held on the same day, March 15, 2026.  To accommodate the many Screenland 5K registrants and their families, volunteers, performers, cheerleaders, and service providers who participate in the LA Marathon, the race committee scheduled the Screenland 5K on March 1, 2026, to avoid conflict. The LA Marathon, several weeks later, announced it would reconsider racing on Oscar Sunday.  The Screenland 5K committee decided to stick with its March 1 date, having made commitments to city agencies, performers, service providers, and hundreds of early registrants.
