Start here: Your Personal Fundraising Page
Your Personal Fundraising Page is not a form to fill out, it’s your story. Add a photo, then share your “why.”
Try: “Epilepsy has impacted my life because… I’m doing Sharon’s Ride because… I’m supporting Epilepsy Foundation of San Diego County because…”
Keep it real. That’s it. Real words, real story. When you share your why, you invite people to help make sure no one faces epilepsy alone.
My fundraising secret
Social media and email are great, but quick text messages get the best results. Here’s what I text:
Text template:
Hey [Name], I’m fundraising for Sharon’s Ride with the Epilepsy Foundation of San Diego County. I’m asking for $10 for the 1 in 10 people who will have a seizure in their lifetime, or, if you’re feeling generous, $26 for the 1 in 26 who will develop epilepsy in their lifetime. Your donation funds real-world help for families, education, and the “what do we do now?” guidance when seizures become part of life. It’s more than just “awareness for awareness’ sake,” which is why I need YOUR help! Thanks for helping me ensure no one faces epilepsy alone. [Link to your fundraising page]
And do not be afraid to ask for higher amounts, too. You will be surprised how fast your fundraising grows when you actually ask and your people get a clear way to show their love.
