The Great Escape Bike Course

The Great Escape Sprint Bike Course

The bike course out has changed from last year. This year’s route is 12.2 miles for the sprint and approximately 6.25 miles for the super sprint. There are no water stations on the bike course, so cyclists should carry hydration.

Turn-by-Turn Directions:

Going out of transition, athletes turn right onto Ellis-Porter Dr.
At the top of the hill turn left onto Riverside Dr. and stay on Riverside several blocks before connecting with E. High St. (At Riverside and Riviera cyclists must turn left and avoid crossing onto Riviera, which goes down hill.)
Turn left on E. High St. After cresting the hill on E. High St. there is a downhill slope. Cyclists must be cautious and prepared to turn right onto Lincoln St.
Once on Lincoln, turn left onto E. McCarty St.
Continue east on East McCarty to Tomahawk/Algoa Rd. Turn left onto Tomahawk then an immediate right onto Algoa Rd.
Continue on Algoa Rd. After crossing the Moreau River bridge turn right onto North Shamrock Rd.
Turn left onto Stertzer Rd. Follow Stertzer back to Algoa Rd. Turn right onto Algoa Rd. to Militia Dr. This is the turn-around and is a change from previous years. Volunteers will mark the turnaround. (DO NOT turn onto Militia.)
Retrace the route. At E. McCarty and E. High, at the triangle in front of Warwick Village, stay right onto E. High
From E. High turn right onto Lincoln.
Turn right at Hough St.
Go two blocks and turn left at Grant St.
Continue on Grant St. back to the Ellis-Porter Pool transition area.
The super sprint bike follows the same route, except the turnaround is at Tomahawk and Alcoa Rd. Volunteers will be at this turnaround.

This is an out-and-back course, with one exception for both the sprint and super sprint. Where E. McCarty meets E. High at the triangle in front of Warwick Village, please stay right onto E. High, then turn right onto Lincoln. Follow the course back to the transition area. Before entering the transition area, stay right at the concrete divider.
