  • What races does the Huntington Sprint Triathlon offer? 
    • Sprint Triathlon (Individual and no relay options)
  • Why is this a USA Triathlon (USAT) Sanctioned race? 
    • The Race Directors elect to sanction the race through USAT for various reasons. The largest being a set of defined rules to guide athletes and ensure a safe, enjoyable race. USAT also provides insurance coverage should an incident occur.
  • Do I have to purchase a USA Triathlon (USAT) membership? 
    • Yes, a USA Triathlon membership is required to register for the race.
    • When registering, you will be prompted to enter your existing membership number or purchase a membership. There are various offerings, from a one-day pass to larger memberships. The pricing varies and is controlled by USAT.  
  • Can someone else pick up my packet? 
    • No, Participants must pick up their own packet & drop off their own bike.
    • Packet pick up is offered only on race day; review the race weekend schedule.
  • Can I get a refund or transfer my bib if I cannot attend? 
    • Strict Policy: No Refunds, No Transfers | All entries are non-refundable and non-transferable to another person or future race year.
  • What is the rule about wearing a wetsuit? 
    • If the water temperature is up to 78°F, wetsuits are permitted, and participants are eligible for Age Group Awards.
    • If the water temperature on race morning measures between 78.1°F and 83.9°F, the race will be wetsuit optional, and athletes who choose to wear a wetsuit will not be eligible for Age Group awards.
    • If the water temperature is in this range and you choose to wear a wetsuit, you will start after the non-wetsuit swimmers.
  • Does Grit Races (Huntington Sprint Triathlon) track water quality?
    • Yes, Grit Races takes water quality very seriously and works with the Northeast Ohio Sewer District to test water quality during the week leading up to the race. Should quality be unsatisfactory, athletes will be notified either before or on race morning. Should the swim be canceled, the race will become a duathlon.
  • Can I wear headphones or earbuds during the race? 
    • No! Absolutely no audio devices are allowed on the course. Cell phones are permitted for data tracking only. Use of a phone for making/receiving calls/texts, taking photos, and playing music is strictly prohibited and could result in disqualification.
  • Can I leave shoes at the swim exit to wear to transition?
    • Yes! As long as they do not impede the forward momentum of participants, staff, volunteers, and medical staff. 
  • When can I retrieve my gear from transition?
    • After the last bike has entered transition and all athletes are on the run course, as not to impede other athletes
  • Is there an age minimum to be able to race?
    • Yes, a participant must be 13 years old by December 31, 2026 to race
