Race morning setup volunteers are responsible for helping prepare the event venue before athletes arrive and play a critical role in ensuring race operations run smoothly and on schedule.
Responsibilities may include setting up signage, cones, fencing, transition areas, water stations, tables, tents, finish line materials, and other event equipment throughout the venue. This position often involves working in the early morning hours, in the dark, and in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment with strict timelines.
Volunteers should be highly dependable, able to work independently with minimal supervision, and comfortable problem-solving and adapting quickly as needs arise. The role requires frequent walking, standing, bending, carrying supplies, and heavy lifting of 30+ lbs.
Strong communication, urgency, and attention to detail are essential. Due to the responsibility level, fast pace, physical demands, and equipment handling required during race morning operations, adults are typically best suited for this role.
