We hope everyone is hunkered down and staying safe during these turbulent and trying times. Obviously 2020 has gotten off to a rotten start for everyone, but we’ll all get through this.
We think it’s important that we keep the triathlon community apprised of our plans regarding the triathlons that we produce. This announcement pertains to North Carolina Triathlon Series events.
Today we are officially cancelling the Azalea Triathlon on April 11th, and all three races at White Lake on April 25th & 26th.
People who have already registered for Azalea or any of the spring White Lake races will have two options. You may defer to the 2021 race or transfer your registration to a fall 2020 race. Either of these options will be done at no further expense to participants.
We hope people understand that we will not be offering a refund option.
We realize that this contradicts a statement in an email that went out two weeks ago, but after reassessing how we can move forward and remain in business, this is the policy that we have decided to adopt. We feel like our policy is fair and either matches or surpasses the policies implemented by other event producers. This is also consistent with our normal policy regarding event cancellations. We appreciate your understanding on this matter.
As we move forward we will be making cancellation announcements three weeks before event dates. As an example, the Lake Norman State Park Sprint is scheduled for May 2nd. Consequently, we will make an announcement about the status of that race on April 11th. We will handle each subsequent race in the North Carolina Triathlon Series the same way. This timetable could be altered if we are instructed by local government officials to cancel an event. Should that happen, we’ll notify participants immediately.
At this juncture and with everything so up-in-the-air, this is the best we can do.
We look forward to being able to produce triathlons again as soon as conditions improve and it’s safe and appropriate to do so.

NEW for 2020 - "No Shirt/No Swag" Registration Option
For 2020, participants will have the option of registering for a race at a discounted price and NOT receiving the race shirt and any “swag” given away at the race. If you opt to do this, select the registration category that fits you (Individual or AquaBike), and when you get to the stage during this registration process where you pick your t-shirt size – you’ll see a “No Shirt/No Swag” option – and the discounted amount.
If by chance, at a later date, you decide that you'd like to have the race shirt or swag, you'll be able to purchase a race shirt and the swag at the race site following the conclusion of the race. Be aware, that should you do this, the items will cost more than by purchasing them when you register.
1) Anyone registering after 4/10 - WILL NOT receive a race shirt or swag
2) Relay teams do NOT have this “No Shirt/No Swag”option. All relay team members will automatically receive shirts and swag.
