The Jaime Pinaire 5K Race & Fun Run is named in memory of Jaime Pinaire, the son of Joan and Jim Pinaire, founders of the James A. Pinaire III Foundation.
In December 2014, Jaime was driving home from Newark during a winter storm after volunteering at Robert Treat Academy’s Saturday classes when he was tragically involved in a car accident. Jaime had recently begun his teaching career at Robert Treat Academy and was deeply committed to helping students succeed academically.
Jaime was also a person who showed up fully for the people he loved. He shared a close bond with his sisters, Megan and Kaitlin, and the joy he found in family and friendship was a constant throughout his life. He had a way of making people laugh and feel included.
A graduate of Chatham High School, Jaime played both football and baseball and remained an avid athlete throughout college and beyond. He later developed a passion for endurance and obstacle-course events—especially Spartan races—and completed a Sprint, Super, and Beast in a single year to earn Spartan’s ultimate challenge: the Trifecta. He loved the camaraderie of training and racing with friends, pushing himself, and celebrating the finish together.
Jaime also had an adventurous spirit beyond racing—whether spending time with the people who mattered most or enjoying the freedom of the open road on his motorcycle. Those same qualities—energy, determination, humor, and heart—are part of what this race celebrates.
Hosting a 5K and Fun Run is a fitting way to honor Jaime’s love of athletics while continuing his dedication to education. All proceeds from the race benefit the James A. Pinaire III Foundation, which provides scholarships to graduates of Chatham High School and to Robert Treat Academy students with financial need.
Each year, the race brings the community together to celebrate Jaime’s legacy and invest in the futures of deserving students. Run in Jaime’s memory. Carry his legacy forward.
Thank you for helping us continue Jaime’s commitment to education.
